Hippie Hair Wraps

Different Colors and Patterns
Photo: Hippie Hair Wraps

Hair wraps. The next big thing in Austin. Your hair gets wrapped in colorful string, beads and charms; perfect for the spring and summer.  My roommate, Jane Claire Hervey, is trying to start her own hair wrapping business called Hippie Hair Wraps in Austin this summer. Jane is from Rio Hondo, Texas. It's a little town about half an hour from South Padre Island. It was at South Padre Island where Jane started working on hair wraps at a bead shop, Kay's. "I'm looking to install my hair wrapping business into a local bead shop and I've already met with a couple of jewelry beaderies in the area."

She is currently doing house appointment for those who want to get a one right now. Contact her through the Hippie Hair Wraps Facebook page or email her for an appointment. I'll be working for her as well so you can let me know too! You better believe I got one to welcome spring!

Maxi Dresses: A Must Have For Spring

Nothing is better and more chic than wearing a maxi dress, especially during the spring. It's an easy way to build an outfit and it looks great!
High to Low Maxi Dress
Alloy
I love wearing maxi dresses because they are easy to change in and out of when I go shopping and they are extremely comfortable. IF you are in a rush getting ready its also a quick way to just slip something on and go. I was checking out Alloy for dresses and they never disappoint!

The best thing about maxi dresses is that they can go from being casual and laid back to something that you could wear to a party or a night out. The dress above, for example, could be worn with some cute sandals during the day and high heals during the evening. All in all, maxi dresses are fun, easy and super cute! Check out the rest of Alloy's Fabulous maxi dresses.

Two Words: Camo Pants

Okay, I know I just talked about military jackets in my last post, BUT I saw a picture of a girl wearing camo pants and a white lace top on madewell.com and fell in love. Seriously, Mean Girls anyone?

Anyway, I was totally inspired and now I can’t stop thinking about this amazing outfit that I don’t own, story of my life.

Camo Pants Outfit

This is the outfit that is stealing my sleep and invading my dreams. I am being a little dramatic. Seriously though, this is what I would pair up with some camo pants and I think it’s perfect for spring! This is also an outfit that I created on polyvore.com; all of the items are linked in the bottom if you want to buy them! I am determined to have this outfit. We’ll see what my bank account says about that.

You know I’m going to be playing this jam when I’m sporting my camo pants.

Spring Go-To Jackets!

Fresas, I know it’s been a while since I gave you advice on what to wear to bring out your preppy style. A post is long overdue, I know.

Can you believe that it’s already March? I could have sworn it was January two seconds ago! Anyway, now that March madness is rolling in, the next four posts will all be on spring fashion.

Let’s start out the new season the right way. Spring can come with love and warm weather, WHEN things are perfect. When they aren’t, sometimes we get stuck with weird weather where we have no idea how much clothing is needed to keep warm. As a result, us fresas need to have a couple of go-to jackets for those chilly days.

Two jackets that I absolutely couldn’t live without during the spring: a military jack and a jean jacket (classics).

Below are two examples of outfits that could be used with a jean jacket and a military jacket. The jean jacket is an outfit that I put together on my own and below it are the links to each individual item!

Hope you like my ideas! Remember you don't need to buy the most expensive jacket if you're on a budget, but keep in mind that you need to find something in the middle price range if you want to keep it for a while!

Military Jacket compliments the dress and keeps you warm.

Classic Knitted Sweater

As the temperature starts to drop, fresas start to put on their long sleeves to be warm and preppy. An absolute must have is a knitted sweater. If you’re low on cash, I suggest buying a neutral tone that way you can mix and match it with a bunch of different colors and make more than one outfit with it, DUH.

I went ahead and put together an outfit with a beige sweater and some maroon pants with other accessories. This look is really warm and clean look but if you want to go for a more colorful outfit, you can switch the colored pants and the scarf for something that will pop out more.

Whatever you do buy a knitted sweater! I promise it’s a great fresa investment because you can use it in so many ways like with leggings, tights, jeans, or scarves. You name it! Overall, it will give you a warm and cozy look for the fall and winter!

Watch Yo'self.

Fresas, watches are hands down my favorite accessory. Whether or not people think they’re used as an accessory or an object to tell time, watches are an important part of a fresa outfit. Personally, watches describe my mood. Sometimes I feel sporty, so I wear my hot pink G-Shock or if I’m feeling cute, I wear my ceramic white and rose gold Fossil watch. Whatever it is, I’m always keeping time.
My newest watch obsession is black ceramic. It's HOT. SO HOT. It's like having a man on my wrist, but not really because a watch is at least competent enough to tell me what time it is. Below is an outfit I put together with a black ceramic Fossil watch! It’s pretty much an idea of what you want to wear with a black watch. You can click on the items and buy them if you want! If you're into online shopping get to it.
